Sibak
Dominic was born and raised in the rough neighborhoods
of Kalihi where Kajukenbo was created and developed
by the founders of the martial art. In his neighborhood,
Sibak Dominic had to learn how to watch his back when
walking in the streets just in cas someone would jump
him. Things like this made Sibak Dominic street-wise
and therefore learning Kajukenbo was natural for him.
Sibak Dominic started his martial arts journey by wrestling
for Farrington High School for four years. From wrestling,
he learned takedowns and grappling techniques as well
as the concept of a good base. In 2003, Sibak Dominic
started studying Kajukenbo with Sifu Trent Sera on the
island of Maui, Hawaii and has never turned back. "While
taking Kajukenbo, I learned so many things about myself,
including my strengths and weaknesses, which I use in
my everyday life. Kajukenbo is a good source of building
character." says Sibak Dominic. Sibak Dominic attained
his Black Belt in 2008 and his 1st degree Black Belt
in 2009 from Sifu Trent Sera.
Sibak Dominic has entered a few tournaments on Oahu
but "The true success is not in the fight, but
when you can inspire and change a person's life through
the martial arts", says Sibak Dominic. Sibak Dominic
currently teaches the Kajukenbo classes at both the
Pukalani and Kahului locations and attends seminars
from Grandmasters to gain more knowledge, He started
training in the art of Wing Chun Kung Fu under Sifu
Garcia in 2010.
